Let us have a deeper look at the difference between marketing and sales. Let's say someone is hanging from a cliff and doesn't have the ability to hold on much longer and a salesman is quickly approaching with a yellow rope that would permit this person to climb up the cliff to safety. As the salesman gets there the person hanging from the cliff sees the yellow rope as the salesperson offers to help. Rather than accepting, the person says "I don't need a yellow rope, I want a blue rope". The salesman proceeds by saying, "Well yeah but allow me to tell you about this rope, this is a yellow rope, it's the greatest rope you can purchase" and would continue on to try and convince this person to use the yellow rope. A skilled MLM marketer in that situation would have been listening when the person said "I need a blue rope". If marketer approached that person with the yellow rope the response would have been "Oh, well I don't have a blue rope, I've a yellow rope, good luck, maybe the next guy will have what you are seeking" and then moved on.
Marketing is all about listening to your prospect and offering them exactly what they want.
